U.C.M.A. have been given a grant of £4750 from the Arts council via the Awards4All scheme to help fund a recording project.
The grant is to help local musicians make professional recordings and to have these sessions published on a new U.C.M.A. website. The grants will be targeted at artists who write their own original material.
U.C.M.A have been in conversation with local school music teachers to discover the new talents, that this grant will benefit. U.C.M.A. will also help some of the young bands and artists that have appeared at their club LA12 nights, like Optimus Prime, a young Barrow band, and Degrassi, from Ulverston.
Each band will be awarded two days of recording time in Southlake studio in Ulverston, and will receive a finished master on CD of their session.
Once all of the recordings are completed the project moves into stage two, which will see this body of work published on the new  Ulverston contemporary music association website in the spring.
