| Welcome to Colin and Jackies' website. | Beachfront apartment for rent in The Dominican Republic |
| The apartment is at Orilla del
Mar, on the
north coast of the Dominican Republic. This is the Atlantic side of the island, where the ocean is a spectacular cauldren of surf, with changing colours of turquoise, vermillion, and prussian blue. It's a hypnotic meditation to sit on the soft sands, just a stones throw from our apartment and watch the rising sun, as the big Atlantic rollers kiss the deserted beach, dotted with giant driftwood sculptures bleached by the carribean sun. |

It
takes less than a couple of
minutes to reach the gate to the beach, which stretches for two miles
in
each direction. To the right is a mountainous headland that melts
away into the ocean, and to the left, a deserted beach that stretches
away into the distance with often not a soul in sight, just
the roar of the waves breaking beneath an azure sky, a real Robinson
Crusoe experience. A half hours walk along our beach will bring you to
Cabarete, where the multitude of kite surfers stretch to the horizon. The beach front is a Dominican chaos of beach bars and excellent restraunts that spill out onto the beach beneath swaying palms. This is the place to sit out and enjoy a cold beer, and drink in the shimmering colours of the tourquoise sea and multi coloured kite, and wind surfers. |
About 30 minutes from Puerto Plata airport and about two kilometers east of Caberete, Orilla del mar is a codominium that sits right on the beach. Built about 15 years ago, Orilla del Mar boasts mature and lush gardens. There is a small shop at the reception that sells a few essentials, milk, bread, toilet rolls, beer, ciggerettes, water, soft drinks etc.For more provisions we go to Janets supermacardo on the Orilla side of Caberete, about 5mins by taxi or moto concho. The complex is well maitained and has 24hr security. The residents split about 50-50 between long stay residents and holiday makers. Overall it's a quiet and peaceful place to relax, and the pool a good place to meet the other residents. There's no bar so stock up at the supermardo. |

| This is a veiw from one of the many beach bars on Cabarete beach, and although I've never done any kite surfing it's a great spectator sport as well. The picture on the right could have been taken from our beach at Orilla del Mar, as it looks similar, being only a mile or so away. |
